STEM Night
HM, Pleasant Grove, D07S
On March 27, PGKC was given the opportunity to volunteer at Edna Batey’s STEM Night, which was an event that allowed elementary students to learn about STEM through a variety of fun activities. Volunteers were assigned to the game booths, where they provided instructions and managed players. I was assigned to a booth called “Write like Leonardo Da Vinci”, a title written backwards and read straight when reflected in the mirror. While the children had a difficult time following along at first, I was soon able to comfortably lead them in accomplishing the tasks. Seeing their faces light up when they succeeded in writing also brought a huge smile to my face. Overall, the STEM night was a great opportunity to have fun with other PGKC members while interacting with younger students!
Spring Club Rush
HC, North Hollywood, D16S
Anticipation was high as North Hollywood waited for the spring club rush to finally arrive! We hastily prepared to fill our white tigers stomachs with a bunch of yummy food! Key Club's menu consisted of Wingstop, Jarritos, and Shirley Temples. Our officers, Alyssa, Vanessa, and Jamie were hard at work selling food at the booth! Riley accompanied our mascot, who brought many smiles and laughs to those at the event! Food sold out quickly and we were very happy with the profit we made! After much planning and hard work, we can’t wait to use this money for future events! Thank you to all of our officers for their help and thank you to our white tigers for supporting us!
Gregori Club Elections
AA, Gregori, D46N
This month, we held Gregori Key Club elections for the 2024-2025 term! Last year, all of the elections were held on Zoom, so it was nice to see a couple of speeches in person! On the first day, we held the elections for president and vice president. The following day we held secretary, treasurer, news editor, and tech editor elections over Zoom. As a whole, all of the speeches were done well and there was a lot of support from members watching the elections. It isn't easy to talk in front of so many people, so I'm proud of all the candidates and look forward to their future success as the next officers of Gregori's Key Club!
Homeless Outreach
EN, Damien Memorial, D22K
On an early Saturday, Damien Memorial Key Clubbers gathered together at Harbor Church in Honolulu to volunteer at their homeless program. Members started off their day by organizing donated clothes by size and gender for the clothing drive. After they were done, each gathered at their station: hot foods, snacks, drinks, “waiters,” and clothing drives. While some worked with scooping and sharing delicious foods with the homeless, others helped hold their items and meals while talking to them. This service project is one of the most loved projects within the club, and they were more than happy to help out, even if it meant waking up at 6 in the morning on a weekend. It was all worth it in the end when members saw the smiles on the homeless people’s faces and heard their words of gratitude.
