Pancake Breakfast

AT, San Marcos, D37E

During this Month of May, Our Key Club at San Marcos HIgh school participated in an event that helped the St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church and members for setting up and serving a pancake breakfast. The Pancake breakfast fundraiser was an event to provide both an opportunity for the community to connect and for the church to raise funds through admissions tickets. This event occurred over the course of two days, and volunteers from the San Marcos Key Club attended after school on friday and from 7 am to 1 pm on saturday. The fundraiser included setting up tables and preparing plates, and helping decorate the church venue. Volunteers also helped serve refreshments such as orange juice, water, and of course, pancakes. The volunteers from our club were also able to meet the Mayor of San Marcos, Rebecca Jones. Overall, We feel this was a very positive opportunity for both members and community to bond over breakfast and be able to gain community service hours. During the pancake breakfast, we feel it was a good opportunity for our members and upcoming officers to bond and create connections. I feel that there was overall a good amount of participation in this event from our club, and to conclude, was a very accessible and successful volunteering opportunity.

On April 28th, 2024, our seals contributed to our community at “Golden streets” In San Gabriel. Our seals have volunteered at this through assisting in setting up, breaking down, and working at the booths. The first shift went from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the second shift went from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Our volunteers learned how to engage with others, and got to feel as a part of the community. Overall, our seals greatly impacted the success of the “Golden Streets” Event in San Gabriel by dedicatedly volunteering their time and effort in various areas.

29th Annual Fair Festival

KS, Sierra Vista, D35W

Our last two community service events were on the 28th of April. These events were held at Cortez Park in West Covina. The first event was the 29th Annual Information Fair Festival, this was at 12:30-5:30 PM. We had a total of four members who helped out, in this event they helped parents with waivers, stamping, and the children’s safety while on the bouncy houses. And for our second service event that day it was the Load Truck held from 3:30-6:00 PM . We had a total of three members who stayed after the 29th annual festival to help clean up

April DCM

SPL, Alhambra, D10S

For our April DCM, we had a lot of fun activities for the members! The DCM revolved around our past LTG Oralee, since it was her sendoff DCM! Because it was a celebration for her, it was in fact the first DCM that I planned! We had activities such as writing messages for our past LTG (some anonymous). We also had a game where members had to draw Oralee from memory! We also had a potluck, where members brought their own food. Overall, we had amazing attendance for this DCM, especially since it was during the end of the term. Our members enjoyed it alot, and they look forward to future DCMs!

Food Fair

JC, Freedom, D26N

The last food fair of the 2024-2025 term took place on Thursday, May 8th. We sold Thai and Taro tea for $6 each in front of C building. To increase more profits and enhance customer satisfaction, we decided to continue to accept digital payments. By the end of the food fair it was a great success! We were able to sell many drinks, though we weren’t able to sell out completely. Despite this, we were able to earn a good amount of funds, and were later on able to sell the remaining Thai and Taro tea to teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. Scarlette Quioc said, “It was the new cabby’s first time leading Food Fair! At first it was really hectic but we eventually got the hang of it!” Additionally, Stephany Macias, who was also a huge help at our booth said, “This was my first time helping out at food fair and it was a really fun experience! There were a lot of people lined up to get boba and I was helping restock the boba as it got sold.”
