Club Rush

EB, Alberto, D05S

This month key club participated at club rush at Hoover High School, and it was a huge success! Lots of new people have signed up and are really excited to help out their community through volunteering. We are able to show off and explain to the new members what key club is and how key club can benefit their community by showing the new members pictures of activities and volunteer work that had been taken from previous years. We are excited for the new members of key club to be part of our community and hope they have a good time being a member of key club.

PB&J Making

MT, Kalani Key Club, D22H

On August 28th, both new and old members alike participated in Kalani Key Club’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Making Event, where, as stated in the title, students worked together to produce plenty of PB&J sandwiches. The purpose of this sandwich making event was to donate them to the Institute of Human Services, where they give out various kinds of food to the homeless and individuals in need, which is a great way for members to give back to their community. During this event, in their groups of four, members first started by conferring among themselves who would pass the bread, apply the jelly, apply the peanut butter, and who would package the finished sandwiches. While the officers placed pieces of plastic wrap onto everyone's desks to keep the classroom clean, groups would often move their desks closer together for maximum efficiency, as well as for an easier sandwich making experience. Members seemed to have quite an enjoyable time during this event, laughing at each other's works, and collaborating with one another to produce the best PB&J sandwiches. They had engaging conversations with each other, and got the chance to meet new people. After all the supplies were used up, students wrote small words of encouragement and happy messages onto sticky notes, which were then taped onto the sandwich bags. Overall, this event proved to be a huge success, producing about 2 big bags full of PB&J sandwiches, and allowed for members to socialize and get to know each other.

Club Carnival

JP, West Career Tech Academy, D28W

Club Carnival was such an exciting and special experience!! From getting to explore other club’s games, to meeting so many people at our booth, it provided a very fun atmosphere that really helped energize my experience!! I adored getting to see so many people be interested in what our club does, and helping them participate in our game!

Night Market

ZK, Los Osos, D15N

On September 27th, the Region 13 Night Market was held for a ton of different districts (including D15N!) As usual, the requirements were 2 medical forms and a $5 fee. Upon entry, there were a dozen different booths all selling a variety of assortments. There were some selling matcha, some selling boba, rice bowls, candy apples, merchandise, and even sushi rolls! There was roughly an hour to browse and purchase some meals and drinks; a lot of the Key Clubs created some profit thanks to the hospitality of everyone. After the hour of free time, all the divisions were sent to take a group photo and to practice our respective division’s chants. Everyone seemed to be close to mastering the chants towards the end of the segment, so it was definitely a great use of the time. The divisions were then sent back for an hour of freedom and bonding. The rest of the event could be summed up to this, however there was a talent show ongoing throughout the night market! People sung, played guitar, or even danced - overall the performances were amazing and kept the audience entertained always! After the raffle ticket was held, we were all free to go home. It was an amazing night and I’m sure the divisions who attended are looking forward to next year’s event!

Truckee Clean Up

IR, Debbie Smith, D23

On Saturday, September 13th, I attended the KTMB rock park cleanup. There were many roles to choose from garbage pickup, playground cleaning, etc. I had a lot of fun there! Everyone’s spirits were raised to the highest level, and everyone pitched in their part to help clean the park spotlessly. The people from KTMB were really welcoming and friendly, making sure everyone was safe.
